A Peaceful Heart: Growing Calm and Compassion in Turbulent Times
Throughout history, people have sought the heights of human potential. And now recent science is revealing how these remarkable ways of being are based on equally remarkable changes in our own nervous system, making them more attainable than ever before.
In tonight’s talk, Dr. Rick Hanson will explore simple, powerful practices – at the intersection of Buddhism and brain science – that develop a lasting sense of calm strength with an open heart. In this way, we can embody the teaching that “one is truly wise who is peaceable, friendly, and fearless.”

Mindful Dialogue Groups
The groups that have been meeting for years after my Wednesday night class have moved online. Over the past months, we’ve been joined by hundreds of people from all over the world. The goal of the discussion groups is to create a safe and intimate space for people to share what’s in their hearts without fear of judgment or contradiction.
To further promote safety, we also have a group for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color only. Both groups start right after my Wednesday night talk ends. If you’ve tried to join before but weren’t able to get in, please try again as we’ve increased capacity. The links for both groups are below:
