2-week Intro Series: Basics of Meditation--Teachings & Practices
(Each year Tara likes to go back to the most fundamental elements of a rich meditation practice, and offer classes that allow new students an introduction, and experienced students, a refresher.)

- River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 6301 River Road (enter from Whittier Boulevard)
- Orientation:
- 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 7pm before class.

- Includes Vispassana meditation, group sitting, and dharma talk. This is a large gathering of approximately 200.
- Cost:
- Dana of $10-$15 is suggested.
- By Metro:
- Take Metro Red Line to Friendship Heights. Take the River Road T2 bus to the Whittier Blvd stop. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes.
- By Car/Parking:
- Please comply with posted parking guidelines, and only park in designated areas. No parallel parking along the driveways. The lots usually fill up, but parking is available on the surrounding streets.

Satsang with Tara – Monthly

- Driving Directions: Exit I-495 at River Road and go west towards Potomac. Left at Seven Locks Road and then your first residential right onto Lilly Stone Drive. Right at a four way stop onto Hamilton Spring Road and drive to the end. Right on Hamilton Springs Court, which will take you into the Community Center parking lot. Class is held upstairs. - Suffering comes from our unlived life--the unseen, unfelt parts of our psyche. Through this workshop, we will explore how the Buddhist practices of mindfulness and compassion can free us from the bind of fear and shame. The day will include short talks, guided meditations, experiential exercises, and time for sharing and questions.

True Refuge - Pathway to Happiness, Peace and Freedom
- Description:
- False refuges are the habitual ways we leave presence and try to feel more secure on our lives. In contrast, a path of true refuge awakens our capacity for courageous presence, deep compassion and full aliveness. This daylong will include short talks, guided meditations, and time for sharing and questions.

Conscious Relationships
- Description:
- Intimacy with others can be the ground for experiencing full aliveness and sacred communion. Yet as so many have experienced, our relationships are also often the source of insecurity, hurt and betrayal. During this daylong workshop we will explore the beliefs and feelings that separate us from each other and the meditative practices that enable us to cultivate genuine bonds of trust, understanding, intimacy and love.
You are welcome to come on your own, or with a partner. The day will include short dharma talks, silent meditation, mindful movement, reflective inquiry and dyadic exercises.

Awakening to Our True Nature
- Description:
- Our suffering comes from identifying with the story and feelings of a separate, limited self. The gift of an authentic spiritual path is realizing we are in a trance, and discovering the vastness and luminosity, wisdom and love that expresses our deepest nature. In this workshop we will explore the practices that reveal who we are. Our time together will include silent and guided meditations, short talks and time for questions.
