In this session, Tara invites you to pause, turn toward your own heart, and explore how you can meet fear, stress, and self-judgment with a kinder, more spacious presence. You will be guided through a brief talk and a lovingkindness meditation you can return to whenever you feel tight, overwhelmed, or hard on yourself.

Tara also speaks about the negativity bias and the impact of continually taking in distressing news, and she encourages you to unplug at times, reconnect with your senses, and strengthen pathways of appreciation and care.

Over the next few days, you will also receive a short series of emails with further reflections on self-kindness and details about a yearlong community of practice beginning in 2026.

This self-kindness session is one doorway into Choosing to Love: A Community of Practice, Tara’s yearlong program beginning in 2026.

Over twelve months, the community will explore how to:

  • Bring mindfulness, RAIN, and lovingkindness into the realities of daily life

  • Soften long-standing habits of fear and self-judgment

  • Rest more often in a felt sense of belonging and basic goodness

  • Practice in a supportive field of spiritual friends through live teachings, small RAIN circles, and an ongoing community space
