How does hope support healing, inner freedom, and our capacity to serve a hurting world?
In this talk, we’ll explore the mature expression of hope—not as wishful thinking, but as a living force on the spiritual path. True hope includes three essential elements:
• an aspiration to realize our deepest potential,
• a trust that awakening and healing are possible, and
• an engaged energy that moves us to serve what is unfolding.
Together, we reflect on how hope can free us from despair and help us meet suffering—our own and the world’s—with courage and care. We also look honestly at the shadow side of hope, when it becomes grasping or avoidance, and how mindfulness allows hope to remain grounded in presence and truth.
This teaching offers reflections and insights for anyone longing to live with greater resilience, compassion, and trust in these challenging times.
Here’s what I’ve decided. The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for, and the most you can do is live inside that hope, not admired from a distance, but live right under it, under its roof. What I want is so simple, I almost can’t say it. Elementary kindness. ~ Barbara Kingsolver
